Magazine Design Two: Cover Mock up

For my next prototype for my magazine, I decided to give it a more sophisticated design and appear to be aimed more at fans of opera on orchestras.  To create this Design I used a template from the format Pages, and incorporate my designs to it.

stage 1: I found the template with suited my magazine style.
Stage 2-6: I began changing and adding text to the cover. Starting with changing the title and sub title

Stage 7: I removed the background image and replaced it with a black background, as well as this I added a boarder around the image.
Stage 8: I added my model to the cover.

Magazine Design One: Contents Mock up

Continuing the theme of the graffiti artist cover, I chose chosen to give the contents page a similar design with text being sprayed on to the wall, while each page number being presented as a poster.

stage 1: I began by taking a photo of a blank street wall being the background.
Stage 2: I started adding the details like a copyright and a website to the bottom and the top of the contents in order to make it appear to be more authentic.
Stage 3: Next I began to add text to the contents page.
Stage 4: Like with the cover, I altered the text to make it look like it was spray painted on to the wall.
Stage 5: following on from this I added a small spray paint can in the corner just to help sell the imagery.
Stage 6: With my (fictional) musician character, who is seen on the cover, being a guitarist, I decided to place a guitar next to the briefcase.
Stage 7: Again, like before, I added some stains left over from the spray paint to give it more authenticity.
Stage 8: Above the title, I place three squares which are to become the posters advertising each page of the magazine.
Stage 9: To make the posters seem more realistic, I slightly changed their shape and added small pins on to them.
Stage 10: Once in the right shape I began to add detail on to the posters, starting with the text. Additionally, since the briefcase is supposed to belong to my character, I decided to write the topic and page number relating to him on it, in a font that looks like it was written in pen, complete with stains of ink underneath.

Magazine Design One: Cover Mock up

As I create my magazine, I will upload each stage I have taken as I edit it.

for my first cover design, I have chosen to have my model spray painting on to a blank wall with the pieces of text advertising the different articles in the magazine being written in spray paint.

Stage 1: First up is just the blank wall for the background of the cover.
Stage 2: With the background chosen I began sorting out where text would go starting with the title. For this design I went with the title M.M.T, which stands for Music Mad Teens.
Stage 3-5: For the pieces of information on the cover, I placed them on areas of the cover where they wouldn't be blocked by the model. Before giving them their spray paint design, I just added them as normal text.

Stage 6: With the text in place, I altered the font to appear more like spray paint.
Stage 7-9: I began to add small details on to the cover like the Barcode, prices, date and Website.

Stage 10: To help create the idea of the wall spray painted, I added some paint splashes to make it look more authentic.

Planning: Models and Photo shoot

Before preparing my photo shoot for the magazine cover, I will need to either hire (ask) models and or a cameraman as well as a location for the shoot. Here are the Emails sent to my model/cameraman.

To make things easier for planning, I have chosen to have my photo shoot at my home and shoot my model in front of a white backdrop, this will allow me to edit the background much better with ease. Additionally, I have chosen to be the model myself and ask instead ask either a friend or relative of mine to take the photos.
The other locations I had chosen for my photo shoot was Prospect Park, Reading and in my town centre. while these locations were good for spacing and had scenery which would have looked good on the cover, they are public places and it would be difficult to shoot with a large number of people about. additionally, shooting in the open means we would not have the facilities to store and set up our cameras.
The photo shoot took place on Saturday 26th November. I posed for the photos, while my friend took them.

Here are some of the ideas including fonts and images I have chosen, which I may want use for my final designs.
